Why PDF Pages End Up Sideways

Incorrectly oriented PDF pages are one of the most frustrating document problems. The most common cause: scanning a physical document with your phone held in portrait orientation, then having the resulting PDF export in landscape because the scanner app misread the orientation. Other causes include documents printed to PDF from software that doesn't respect page rotation settings, or multi-page PDFs assembled from files with inconsistent orientations.

The fix needs to be permanent — not just a viewing adjustment. Some PDF viewers let you rotate pages temporarily for reading, but the rotation isn't saved when you close and reopen the file.
