Why Convert PDF to Image

PDFs are excellent for documents, but images are often what's needed for publishing, sharing, and embedding. Choose JPG when file size matters most. JPG uses lossy compression, which produces significantly smaller files than PNG for photographic content and complex color gradients. For sharing PDF pages via email, messaging apps, or web pages where load speed matters, JPG is usually the right choice. The quality loss is generally imperceptible at 90% quality settings.

Choose PNG when quality and sharpness are critical. PNG is lossless, preserving every pixel exactly as rendered. This is essential for PDFs containing text, technical diagrams, charts, or graphics with sharp edges — JPG compression creates visible artifacts around high-contrast edges like text on a white background. For any document page that will be printed, zoomed into, or used as a source file for further editing, PNG produces consistently better results.
